Mission Design

The Mission Design pole makes sure that the CHESS mission is both feasible and consistent, from planning to validation.

This is done by first defining the mission phases and orbital parameters based on the operational objectives of the satellite, structuring the sequence of mission steps but also identifying potential risks and designing contingency plans to address them. Then, given this planning, we perform simulations of nominal operations and anomaly scenarios, to verify that the mission operates appropriately and to test and evaluate our contingency plans, respectively.

Key Roles

  1. Develop a digital twin of the satellite, provide orbital simulation capabilities to the subsystems teams
  2. Define mission objectives, plan operations (how to control the satellite), identify risks and define contingency plans.
